Last night I tried to do my daily post but the time I was finished it was today and had yesterday skipped. So my last post was for yesterday and this one is for today.
My ex got me into "Cowboy Bebop" and I finished it because I had a handful of episodes left. I like my anime short so off the bat I was interested. The first episode of any anime series is a make it or break deal for me. Knowing myself I really am not into anime that has way to many fillers. There are other anime I watched and slowly I'm starting to get used to the fillers.
Sorry to go tangent on you, anyways, "Cowboy Bebop" was an amazing anime and I'm glad I was able to experience it. I finished the last episode 30 minutes ago and still trying to stabilize my emotions. The last episode made me cry and then from there my emotional floodgates decide to add to my crying spell and made me. . . you know the whole anime was a trigger to this-is-what-we-watched-together-as-a-couple memory.
The plot was straightforward and in the last few episodes the message was a great topic of thought conversation. Everyone is trying to find a place where they belong and one should be able to hold on to the past without being dependent on it. That is what I got. Very bittersweet ending and it connected with me.
The characters individually had their own baggage but together they functioned very well. Every single character had a past that was brought up and noticing they dealt with their past in their own individual way.
Spike was nonchalant and egotistical. Yet throughout the series he was deemed modest.
Jet was the "neglectful" father of the kin. He had experience and was warm and he was there for them but at times he pursued things on his own and focused on himself at times. His ship was home to everyone.
Faye is a bitch. . . at first. Faye was a misunderstood character and as time progressed on and my tolerance for her as increased, I understood her as someone who felt alienated EVERYWHERE.
Ed. . . even though in one episode, summed up her past and a part of her life, there is more I wish I knew about her like where she picked up her hacking skills.
Last there is Ein. . . . the dog everyone wishes they could have. Too adorable and I haven't found what metaphor he plays in the series but I will get back to you on that once I decipher it a little more.
I learned a little about death. SPOILER ALERT: Don't read the next paragraph. . . actually I'm going to make it a different color so if you want to read highlight.
I thing it was the shaman that said this to Jet and he said "Don't fear death. Death is always at your side. When you show fear, it will spring at you faster than light. If you do not show fear, it will only gently look over you." And then there was this conversation between Jet and Spike about feeling alive. Made me think, what makes me feel alive?
It's a short anime but it's amazing. No wonder so many people love it, there is action, humor, life, and of course love. It was the perfect anime package and I like how the love interest had small airtime. Don't get me wrong I like love interests as much as the next person but "Cowboy Bebop" was able to include love in the most delicate fashion. Small airtime but you get a whole story in itself. . . infinite times better than you know, the sparkly vampire book.
OVERALL GRADE: A
