Last week for Mother's Day I was thinking what I can make for my mom other than getting her a Tirimisu cake I get her every year. This year I thought of making her chili beans since it's something she enjoys eating and so does the rest of the family (my step-dad is real picky when it comes to food; he's more of a meat and potatoes and chili rellenos kind of guy).
I wanted to make homemade chili beans for the last few weeks but was too lazy. This was my chance to make something for my mom from scratch. However, she had to work that day which meant I had to put something together quickly. Thus I turned to this recipe. I didn't know how the salsa was going to play in the chili but I thought 'C'est la vie'. I put it together and did some things here and there and I would like to say it was pretty good (better the next day). Patting myself on the back my mom came enjoyed it even though she didn't like how much time I spend on it, "Why couldn't you buy the one in the can? It's much easier."
Anywho, if you are looking for a easy chili beans recipe, look no further. This was really simple to make and the ingredients are so easy to gather. I didn't change the recipe a lot but I did change some things. (The recipe below was unaltered to what I did with my own chili). I used two cans of dark red beans (one can I poured everything, the other I drained), I added cumin, and I added a little bit more garlic salt. While cooking the ground beef I added pepper and kosher salt. Since my chili got a little watery I added some flour and cornstarch to thicken. As stated this is a really easy chili bean recipe and next time I'm planning to add chuck to make it a little more chunky. I hope you enjoy this recipe if you plan on making it. Until then, happy cooking!! ^___^
