Breakfast Cafe: Review

Happy June 1st!! It's a start of a new month and it's we're almost halfway through the year, so weird huh?  I know I said in my last post that I have stuffed myself with food and I did. I was hoping last weekend I would be sleeping in but that was not the case. We were already up at 8am and couldn't go back to sleep. So we decided to have breakfast. . . but where?

I mean there is nothing wrong with Denny's or IHOP but in Camarillo (and of course everywhere else) where there are awesome Mom-and-Pop eateries. The closest one to us from the hotel was the Breakfast Cafe and so we went. Thank goodness we went there before rush. It's not a huge place which is great because it creates a cozy atmosphere. During peak hours is where you would see why a small place can be negative.
This was right before a huge crowd came in

I have been to Breakfast Cafe during rush and service was great, really quick with everything. When I went again there was this sweet woman greeting us. We ordered right away; I had pancakes with eggs and bacon, and hot chocolate. Anthony ordered a stack of pancakes and a cup of water.

Told him I need a picture before he devoured it all

My breakfast: 2 bacon strips, 2 eggs over-easy, 2 pancakes, and hot chocolate

The hot chocolate came from a dispense machine and I know some of you out there are cringing at the thought. I loved it! It reminded me of college and when I drank it, I felt complete nostalgic. The woman giving me the hot chocolate warned me about it being hot like a concerned mother; "Be careful honey, it's still hot." The hospitality was awesome and we received our food shortly after finding a seat.

The bacon was cooked how I like it and so where the eggs. The pancakes were delicious (very delicious to Anthony) but I did have better pancakes somewhere else. They were filling (while being fluffy) but the taste was off to me. I really can't say because the batter can vary each day but I think I'm use to having dense pancakes. Besides that, not trying to sound picky sorry, everything was wonderful. We paid around $12 dollars (excluding tip) for everything you saw above and that is a big steal. I was stuffed and ready to go back to sleep, which we actually went back to the hotel to get in a nap at 10am =P

Breakfast Cafe is a great place to go for value for your buck. It's also one of many great breakfast alternatives in the city aside from Denny's, IHOP, and the common fast food chain. There are other delicious entrees on the menu but that is for another time. I should totally think of a closing catch phrase. . . oh well, until next time!!!
