Cronies: Review

This is a late review and I feel bad because I should be on top of my game and publish the day of the places I have visited but since it's almost the end of the school year I had my plate full. Since it's the weekend I do have some time to cover one of my favorite places to visit when I was in high school.

Cronies have been around for a while and they're a small franchise where they have three more location other than the one in Camarillo. Cronies in Camarillo is located next to the Las Posas Cinema, where they show a lot of independent films and documentaries. It's the locals favorite as well as a preferred place to go and watch the game for the sport of that season. It's a small place with an outdoor patio and mostly all the walls and ceiling are decorated somehow.

One side of Cronies. . .

. . . and the other side

We went on a Sunday and we were hungry and thought lunch would be served, unfortunately when we got there they were still taking breakfast orders since lunch doesn't start till 11. I ended up getting a mimosa and it came in this huge cup, I think it was around 32 oz. They did not skimp on the champagne but for what's it worth, it's worth the quality of the champagne as well ($9). I didn't know if they used champagne or white wine, it tasted as though they used white wine =/. I could be wrong but I did not taste any bubbles. Being the lightweight that I am, it did the trick and lucky for me Anthony was able to drive us home where I slept it off.

The mimosa came in a chilled cup, other mixed drinks and beer are served in this cup.
The servers were very attentive and even before 11 hit we were asked for our order. The order took about almost 30 minutes and at the time my stomach was filled with mimosa. Yes, it took a while till our food came but you have to consider the chefs transitioning from breakfast to lunch and also a lot of people started coming in for last minute breakfast. Question is, was it worth waiting 30 minutes for our food?

So-so, I decided to step out my comfort zone and order a sandwich which was smothered with tomato sauce and it was okay, not as flavorful as I expected. The onion rings however were really good but not reflecting back on it, I don't know if they were really good or my craving for onion rings was satisfied. The onion rings were crispy and with the ranch they gave us, it was amazing. Anthony ordered a chili burger and had fries. He said it was pretty good and mentioned the next time he comes down, he wants to try it on their hot dog. The food you get is what you pay for and it is worth the value.
Look at all this food for around $30

During the time we were dining the awesome waitress took Anthony's drink and replaced it with a huge cup so he didn't have to call her down as much and I thought that was really thoughtful of her.  The service was great, checking up on us but not so much.

Cronies is a great place to go to to hang out and watch sports with some people. Like I mentioned it's a popular place with the locals and I can only imagine this place booming on game nights and Fridays. To me Cronies have changed from what I remember from high school but maybe I'm wrong and my taste as changed. I would say the later.

If you're ever in town and BJ's is packed, Cronies is a great alternative sports bar to hit up. Also it's a great place to hit up once you've had your night of being drunk because they sure provide food for those late night eaters.
