Holsteins's Shakes and Buns: Review

When I'm craving for something, but I know I can't have it yet, I think about it and become obsessed. I was craving green tea Kit Kats until I got sick. . . now I'm not craving anything. This Las Vegas trip was to indulge in my cravings and I had a handful, but the craving that stood out the most was onion rings.

There's this video that makes the most crunchiest onion rings. I didn't make it because when I'm on vacation I indulge in those cravings and have someone else do the work. I also craved a bleu cheese burger. Since the Cosmopolitan was a five minute walk from our hotel I decided to try Holstein's Shakes and Buns.

For those who don't like waiting, I recommend a reservation. Our reservations were at 8pm and when we got there a line started forming behind us and it was packed, not going to lie. It was a little bit loud since right across the way is the Cosmopolitan club. . . .very lively.

We only had to wait about five minutes because when I made my reservation I specifically requested for a corner booth seat. If I didn't request the seat, we would have been seated right away. Once we been seated we decided to buy some drinks.

When we asked our waitress if we can have a frozen margarita she said "We have margaritas on the rocks but we don't serve any blended drinks." She then recommended Berry Fresh ( st. germain, fresh lemon juice, skyy citrus, stoli strasberi, simple syrup, muddled strawberries).

The drink did not even have a taste of alcohol in it; I don't know if that was a good thing or not. For $13, I would expect a little kick in my drink. We ordered our food; I got the Gold Standard Burger ($17.50) and Anthony got the Nom Nom Burger ($16.50). Our food arrived and I dove right into the onion rings. That's when a wave of disappointment hit me. I took a bite of my burger and I felt as though from all the positive reviews of this place I felt like the person in a group of people who didn't get the joke and just laughing because I want to fit in. In this case, it's okay if I didn't fit in. I thought "Maybe I need to take a couple more bites to really appreciate my meal." Nope, BUT Anthony liked his meal.

My conclusion to all of this was this place is great when you're drunk and this is Vegas of course so if I was hammered I think this would have tasted delicious. What I found to add why I'm not giving them even 4 out of 5 is because the onion rings were greasy and too salty, so salty I felt it was bland and they decided to make it taste better by adding more salt. The burger itself really didn't stand out. There was a hint of the cheese but it seriously was a greasy mess and all I tasted was fat. There was flavor but all I kept thinking was "There is a lot of grease." This burger would have been awesome if I was under the influence but sadly I don't have have great tolerance and I do not drink as much as I use to.

I'm planning to come back though (despite my experience) to try out their Bam-Boozle shakes (alcoholic shakes). Still if it wasn't for my curiosity on their take in spiked sweets, I would not be coming back because there are still plenty of other burger places to try out and maybe those are better.

TL; DR: If you're drunk and hankering for a burger and some awesome decoration and atmosphere, go to Holstein's. If you're sober (which I feel is a 1% chance) then put your money in another place unless you want to cash out for a little bit over mediocre.

CHANGES: I have changed it from 3 out of 5 to 4 out of 5 because I went to another burger place near my home town and it made me reflect on my experience here. This place is good, I can't say the best because I didn't try other places around the strip. For gourmet burgers this is a pretty good places than others.
