This past weekend I had made a full out course dinner. I made spaghetti, I made butter dippers, and whipped up a quick dessert. I was planning to make pumpkin chocolate chip cookies but I had brownie mixes waiting to be used. What an awesome decision, I forgot why I pick Trader Joe's Truffle Brownie Mix as my to-go boxed brownie mix.
I would say this brownie mix comes close to Ghiradelli's Triple Chocolate Brownie Mix but I always see the Ghiradelli mix in Costco. I never recall seeing it in a supermarket but I think if I did, it was expensive and I skipped out.
What I really like about the truffle brownie mix is the taste. I don't know how truffles really taste like but man I love this brownie mix. What I like about it the most is it uses real butter. I understand why some mixes (whether it being brownie or not) use oil to keep the the bread moist. The very first time I baked this, I was skeptical because it's the mix plus two more ingredients. It goes to show that less is more.
The con of all of this is it won't be good a few days later. It will get hard faster than other boxed brownie mixes. This is a great excuse to indulge in its chocolate goodness and not hold back.
If you're trying to bake something for a bake sale or try to whip up delicious brownies without sacrificing the homemade route, I recommend this box. ^__^
