The Codmother

You know a place is good when you think about it every now and then. I love Northern California for so many good reasons. What I really like most is their seafood and it doesn't have to be fancy seafood. There are so many niche eateries, it will take more than a day (by foot) to cover all of them. There has been one stand alone food trailer making its mark in SF and that's the Codmother.

Can't miss the huge sign
The menu, plain and simple
When I first experienced the Codmother, it was Anthony's surprise for me. He researched the place out and I'm so glad he did. After we experienced the place, I was simply squealing with glee on how awesome the fries and fish tasted. Since then, the Codmother has gained popularity and when I came to visit it was more packed then ever. There was more seating and shade which was great but what was a little difficult was finding a place to sit. I felt like a vulture waiting for the next group to abandon their table. It didn't take long but as we sat down in the sunny San Francisco weather I wished we had a seat under the canopies.
The shack known as The Codmother
We waited about 10-15 minutes (they told us the approximate wait time, which was great of them) and as we got our food I was more than ready to dig in. Anthony got the Baja Fish Tacos and lucky me, he shared ^__^. It was pretty good, the baja sauce was a little kick; nothing too spicy. As for the fish itself, one of the biggest things I recognized was the batter. When I first came the batter was peppered and I really like the taste of it. It was a little of a disappointment. As for the fries, they were the same as the last time I had them, delicious!! Crispy how I like it and soft in the inside.

Baja Fish Tacos with its homemade baja sauce.
They have deep fried sweets and I ordered deep fried Oreos (it was all or nothing). The girl at the register was sweet and told me to tell her when I'm ready so the Oreos are fresh from the fryer.
Deep fried Oreos. MmmmMmmm heart attack =P
As I finished the rest of my meal, Anthony went to tell her about the Oreos. I was more disappointed about my fries being gone. The fish was great but with the batter I would say it went down a little. As I got the Oreos I was thinking about how scrumptious they would be. . . as I sank my teeth and realize how hot it was, I did the put-it-in-your-mouth-and-blow-to-cool-it. It was okay, I was expecting something amazing. It was meh; try it if you haven't.

More people started coming and a part of me felt rushed at the end. As I bid adieu to the blue shack, I felt content experiencing the best fish and chips in The Bay, or so it seems. I want to try a couple more places before I support the Yelp reviewers and it will be a while since I rarely go north. Until then, what I can say is if you're in the area of SF, I recommend trying this place out to get your fish and chips fix. ^____^
