Are you a morning person? Who's not a morning person? . . . Probably a lot of people but a lot of people love breakfast!! MMMmmMMMmm, I love breakfast solely because I love waffles. What I love more than breakfast is brunch because I love more options.
Another buffet I was able to experience while in Vegas was Wicked Spoon (WS). Wicked Spoon is a buffet located in the Cosmopolitan and is a little bit smaller than Bellagio's Buffet. On weekends majority of the buffets serve brunch and dinner; apparently breakfast doesn't exist because people are too hungover or barely getting into bed by the time breakfast starts. . . . Actually brunch starts around 9am, so then again they do cater to those early risers.
It was a little of a journey while trying to find it; we found out it in the corner of the second floor. It's located right after a hallway. It was different and it was a plus because you didn't have to walk through a noisy casino.
We got there a little around 10am and I was pleased there wasn't a huge line.It was about 10 people deep but it was almost a full house. I was extremely hungry vecause I have breakfast between 8 and 9. We waited in line and was called up to the register. After we paid ( it was $33 per person and the total came to about a little over $70) we were directed to stand in another line to wait for a table.
It didn't take long to get a table and we were greeted by our server. One thing I noticed was how everything was set up. They did have their different kinds of stations and it felt a little smaller. It was hard to compare buffets on an empty stomach. I was looking around for a bread bar and a salad bar, and both were absent. There was already made salads and a small bread bar. In the Asian station the food was plentiful but as you got around where they were serving breakfast, there was one area where it wasn't getting stocked. There was juice which you could pick out but there were four glasses left. I saw they had salmon to have with your bagel and it didn't look great because it was sitting out there and it looked as though no one touched it. I really grabbed whatever I was craving the first round.
ROUND 1: I took a couple of sushi roll pieces, a chocolate covered with snickers strawberry, a salmon mousse in a waffle cone, berry parfait, a slice of their pizza, Korean style short-rib, scrambled eggs, fried chicken, and shrimp cocktail.
What I found disappointing was the fried chicken, it was too greasy a lack of flavor. It wasn't flavorless but they went light on it. As for the scrambled eggs, after experiencing MOzen Bistro, it did not compare to how awesome MOzen's were. The eggs were runny and the texture was mush. The sushi. . . I concluded no matter what buffet you go to, the sushi sucks.
Everything else was surprisingly great. The short ribs were cold =/, but good as I always remember them. Couldn't go wrong with a chocolate covered strawberry, the pizza crispy and the ingredients tasted fresh, as well as the parfait. The parfait was super delicious, the berries tasted as though they were hand picked by the chefs. The salmon mousse was interesting, tasted good since it was like a party dip in a chip. The shrimp cocktail was great too. A lot of the food was small portions which was great because I wanted to try a little of everything.
As I went for my next round, I looked around more closely. There was a meat carving station and they had bone marrow (which I really don't know how to eat) and a small fish station. Next to the pizzas they had paninis. Then where all the breakfast was located there was a build-your-own-omelet station. I wanted to go for it but there was a line and I wasn't going to wait. There was a mountain of bacon, sausage links, and sausage patties. They did have a small deli section with the meats and cheese. The dessert section had their own island, the selection was fairly small, but the gelato bar made up for it.
ROUND 2: I plated another parfait, a bagel with cream cheese and the salmon, bacon, some french toast, then got a chocolate cake with a raspberry sauce, and a cheesecake.
Why oh why did I not listen to myself about the salmon. I decided to try it out and it tasted rotten or maybe very unfamiliar to me. As you see in the picture, I scraped it off and even though I did that, I couldn't finish my bagel. The bacon was good, really can't say there is such thing as bad bacon. The french toast was lacking flavor. It was cooked but seasoning wise was absent as well. The desserts were good but not as great as Bellagio's. The cake was dry but not so dry because of the sauce and the cheesecake was light. At this time, dessert sounded pretty bomb and I went to get the BF and I gelato
I got him strawberry balsamic and for me a vanilla bean. Note, if you are at WS and they have strawberry balsamic, GET IT!! It was freakin delicious, THE best variation of strawberry ice cream. My vanilla bean was good and after that I had a thai tea gelato (that was a little bit too sweet for me). If I tried the strawberry balsamic sooner, I would have not eaten anything else until I had my fill. There were other great flavors there. . . yeah I can not remember them other than pistachio, oreo, chocolate, and I think like a cake one. After gelato, I felt I didn't get my money's worth so I went for another "round."
ROUND 2.5: I basically went back to get more chocolate covered strawberries, a short rib and tried out a panini. The panini was a grilled cheese with ricotta and when I went back there was none left and they had a different one out. I was completely fool, I was ready to take a morning nap.
Our server was busy since it started to reach the peak of brunch and we called him down a couple of times. He was attentive at the beginning but it was when we were sitting down. The set-up of WS is really nice, they have booth islands and they had a lot of tables and chairs. I found it difficult to maneuver from my table to the stations. The tables were placed so closed that if someone was sitting down their chair touched a chair behind them. It then became a maze of how to get out and I know I'm pretty big, but no one could get through, trust me.
Conclusion, Wicked Spoon was a nice treat to experience, especially the brunch. By the time we left there was a huge line so I was happy I timed everything well. I'm hoping the next time I'm down there we can try the Wynn's brunch so there's much more to compare in brunch food. As for coming back, I would have to hold that thought until I tried all the buffets I plan to try first.

At the end of the hallway, make a left, and there it is! |
