My Go-To-Recipe: ^O^ Strawberry Lemonade!

Don't forget to stir ^O^

It's been hot in Southern California and the lemon tree in the back yard is filled with lemons galore. I made lemonade before but it's May and you know what that means? Memorial Day? Nope! Mother's Day? Nope. Living in the 8o5 you know when it starts smelling sweet on the 101 it means it Strawberry Festival!! ^O^ Oh how lovely it is to eat strawberry pizza and shortcakes all day. If you are going to be in the Oxnard area on May 17th and 18th that is when the festivities will be.

Back to the program, it is strawberry appreciation time and what better way to appreciate strawberries in all their wonder than by making a refreshing pitcher of strawberry lemonade. It came to me when I was making the lemonade recipe. Lemonade is tart and sweet but the weather we've been having has called out to me something different. Que strawberry season! So went to the market to get some strawberries.

I looked some recipes but I was too iffy about following a new strawberry lemonade recipe so I decided to take a chance and take what I know and add a little to it. Best idea ever!!! So here is the recipe; change it however you want. I like the tart so it is what it is and of course substitutions is all by your means. This recipe is halved since I didn't have a drink dispenser. If you altered it and it was better let me know. ^^ This seriously can be a spring or summer kind of drink. Enjoy!! ^^

Strawberry [mixture]
6-8 strawberries (I say this depending on how big the strawberries), hulled and halved
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 Cup of water

      1.   In a blender put all ingredients in and blend.
      2.   Refrigerate

Lemonade
1 3/4 Cups Sugar
1 1/2 Cups Lemon Juice
4 Cups water
  1. In a small saucepan, combine sugar and 1/2 cup water. Bring to boil and stir to dissolve sugar. Allow to cool to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate until chilled.
  2. Remove seeds from lemon juice, but leave pulp. In pitcher, stir together chilled syrup, lemon juice, strawberry mixture, and  remaining 3 1/2 cups water.
