AYCE Menu: Lunch |

Ninja Roll |

Complimentary: Wonton and edamame |
As my journey continued in Orange County, I had to have my fill on sushi. My brother suggested Sake 2 Me and even before suggesting he had a lot to say about it. He deemed it THE BEST AYCE SUSHI in the county. I didn't want to get over-hyped but after seeing pictures my stomach was ready. My boyfriend and I had
Gen the previous day so we were a little hesitant. Too much AYCE can can off-set a digestive system but we went for it.
It's found in a small-medium shopping center and there was plenty of parking (2/3 hour parking). When we went I immediately noticed the atmosphere is Japanese inspired. We were greeted, seated, and one of our many servers explained to us about AYCE. There are three rounds and we planned to pace ourselves. We arrived around lunch so it was packed with electronic music blasting in the background. Lunch per person was $20 excluding tax.

Look at the rice to fish ratio. Salmon, yum! |

Peppered Salmon |
1st round: Peppered salmon, salmon, takoyaki, gyoza, miso soup, Philadelpia crunch, eel, and Ninja. What I was in awe of was the fish to rice ration. You basically get a
fourth of rice to the piece of fish and I'm not complaining but the rice
was delicious. Almost asked for more rice.

Please avoid, not real lobster. =( |
The girl servers were great compared to the guys servers. When all of the plates came they gave us back our paper to do a second round and we noticed there wasn't any miso soup. We asked twice and no dice. No biggie, we'll just order it again. We also started noticing the music was turned down when majority of the people left and service was starting to become slow. . . to slow. When food did arrive at our table they (the guys) put it down without much eye contact and went away. It was understandable when it was near a packed house but when there were only about four tables and we were seeing they were being attentive to others it made me bite my lip.

Philadelphia crunch |
2nd and final round: My brother ordered a bunch of fresh sushi: white salmon, tuna, yellowtail, albacore, Golden Tiger, Philadelipa crunch, Lobster something, takoyaki, miso soup, and Red Dragon
The food was above par with my expectations and experience with other AYCE sushi restaurants. My only complaint is the lobster which was not lobster but something else which was a bump into my euphoria experience. After forgetting the miso soup we finally got it (we still had to ask for it) but we noticed there
were other items missing from the the list we didn't receive, the
takoyaki. Oh wells, we were stuffed and ready to pay.

So into eating forgot to take pictures of our progress. Second round btw |
We basically sat there for the next 10 minutes figuring everything out and paying for everything and as we were about to leave low and behold one of the guy servers comes to our table, "Takoyaki" in the most monotone voice ever while placing the order of the missing takoyaki, and left without missing a beat. We all stood there and blinked, and stood there in disbelief. No apology, no excuse. . . it was one word, "Takoyaki." I asked my brother if this was how service is normally or is this the worst service he had, he replied this was the worst service he had between all the times he went there and he's been there about more than five times. Sometimes service outright sucks and it happens. It's not going to stop me from going there again.
The food was too good for the price and it was a gratifying experience. Sake 2 Me has done what it has, it sake to me into a food coma for the rest of the time. Sorry for the lame pun =P. Sake 2 Me has raised the bar for AYCE sushi places, except for the service. Next time keep your takoyakis to yourself.
