Is there pancakes that taste different than generic diner pancakes? Can I love breakfast even more? Yes and YES! This post of Original Pancake House (OPH) was a while ago. Even though it was a while ago I still remember it like yesterday, or last week more or less. My brother gave me this long list of recommendations which one day I will full-fill. This was one of many on the list, it was morning, and I was hungry.

Off we went. OPH was found in a strip center not far from where I was staying. As we entered the place felt like an old-school IHOP. We sat down and ordered right away. We ordered the eggs Benedict and the Dutch baby. In fine print for the Dutch baby it explained how it will take a while since they make it by order. No one explained it would take about 25-30 minutes. Nothing came out at all for the next 25-30 minutes. I was expecting some of the other food come out but everything came out at once. Also no one gave me a time frame other than someone telling us it will be out soon which was about a few minutes before it came out.
Between us ordering and receiving our food, I killed time by looking at the menu. At the bottom of the last page was mentioning of charging customers if they are sharing food. . . REALLY?! Even
though it was a dollar per person, it's more of the message they're conveying to all those people who loves to sample. I wonder if they really apply and how frequent.

The food has arrived!!! Was it worth the wait. Let's break it down. The pancakes, pretty amazing taste with the fluffiness pancakes usually come in. The first time I had eggs Benedict was this time around and I can say the hollandaise sauce was nice and creamy. Not over-salted and when I cut through it was in one swoop. I didn't have to wrestle with the English muffin on the bottom. The Dutch baby was the moment of truth. Those 25-30 minutes was a small sacrifice for a starved foodie. I squeezed my lemon, added a sugar, and took a bite. . . mixed emotions started to come up. It was edible. My mind didn't stop functioning. It tasted like a lemon souffle with a hint of sugar. I did not understand the hype. If the hype was the price of what you get I understand. It was reasonable price for the meal and the ingredients used for the meal.

If you noticed I haven't talked a lot about the service it was because there wasn't a lot of service, to my table. I understand they're bu
sy but we were passed up by a lot or I had to flag one person down, and this was after the fact I drank all my water and Anthony's water. So you can see where this review is going.

The OPH is a Southern California franchise which I am planning to go to another one to compare and contrast. It will be a while since I am up north (will talk about it in another entry) but I will make sure it will be done. OPH is a place to try out and if you are planning to try their Dutch Baby make sure you ate a little at home or get a pastry from your nearest Starbucks to help hold you off until your food arrives.
