Moxy Beer Garden

This post is from my experience with Moxy two weeks ago. It was a long Monday. . . actually every Monday is long. Oh my goodness! I have the case of the Mondays!! Oh no! I need get this fixed stat before it takes over me and turns me into even more of an adult! *SIGH*Going to self-diagnosis and self-medicate when I get the chance. Back to the topic, Moxy! Kristina wanted to try Moxy since she has passed it a few times and very curious to try the place out. We were trying to find a place for my former co-workers to celebrate their last day of work. As you see in the title it states "Beer Garden."

After researching, it is defined from Wikipedia, "A beer garden (a loan translation from the German Biergarten) is an outdoor area in which beer, other drinks, and local food are served (see German cuisine). Beer gardens originated in Southern Germany (especially Bavaria) and are most common there."

I ordered a blue cheese burger, a beer called the Green Flash, and I halved an order of truffle fries.  The truffle fries came out first and it was amazing! I still don't know what truffles are suppose to taste like alone but if it tastes as similar like these fries I can tell you I love truffles up the wazoo!! We had our beer delivered way before our fries did and my Green Flash was strong! It was very hoppy; it will make any papa rabbit proud. After one of those however was more than enough to keep me satisfied, it was 9.5% alcohol.

The last time I had blue cheese Anthony would not even come close to me and I forever thought blue cheese was always going to be that distinct, if you know what I mean. Then came the burger! I was nervous and then I took a bite and a wave of delight came over me. The blue cheese tasted so good and it didn't leave an after taste/smell in my mouth. I know if Anthony was sitting next to me he would not hesitate to give me a kiss. The burger was cooked to perfection and the bun held up well. The arugula balanced out the cheese and the bacon gave it a nice salty bite. I could have done without the bacon, got to note that for next time.

Our server was friendly and check on us regularly. It was a quick dinner and it was around $16, we split the check. The food was worth it, I don't know about the beer. I'm picking about my beer. The only thing I was bummed was the heater next to us was not on and we were cold. Brr! Oh and it was a little dark. The darkness did not fit the atmosphere of the place unless that's how beer gardens suppose to feel, dark and cold. Even though it was a pleasant experience the only thing that will bring me back is those truffle fries, unless I find another place that will one up it. If you're into experiencing a beer garden come and experience it here, the only beer garden in Berkeley. . . that I know.
