Napa Adventures Part 1: Sterling Vineyards

Hi Everyone!! Hope you are all having a dry and wonderful weekend. I can't believe I'm saying this but I believe the hype of Napa County. I went with Kristina this past weekend since she is a member at Sterling Vineyards. We planned this out and I was skeptical but as we drove into the parking lot I was like a kid looking at Disneyland for the first time. I was in awe, amazement, and super nervous.

When you walk to this place you have to be lifted to the tasting tour. LIFTED!! Oh my goodness! How was this small box and string going to lift me up? It did and boy what a view it was to see all the other vineyards and all the greenery. It was perfect timing because it just stopped raining and the sun was peaking out. It was serene and I was excited to see what wine tasting is all about here.

My prior experience with wine tasting was cashing out 20-30 dollars and tasting less than mediocre wine. This was a great experience. When we reached the top we were greeted by one of the employees reading to pour our first wine glass. That's when I found out the glass is a souvenir; say what?!? Oh hot damn that was super cool. The first wine was a chardonnay; wasn't feeling it too much. Our second a Cabernet, third Moscato, I think a Zinfandel, and then we got to the last portion which was the tasting room. The wines were okay, I can't say they were the worst. I've had a wonderful wines and completely horrible wines. The red wines did not meet my expectation but they were better than some of the white wines I had. Throughout the tasting I got to know myself as wine drinker. I do prefer the red wines over white unless it's a sweet, SWEET white wine. . . or moscato. The best of all of them was the Malvasia Blanca. A white wine which was sweet and to the point. This tasting made me feel real good at the end of it all which I feel would be anyone's money's worth.

Oh my goodness. I feel so bad I didn't take any pictures of the wine tasting room. It overlooked everywhere. Did I mention this place was on top of a hill? It was and man oh man was the sight breathtaking. I knew then and there why Napa is completely talked about all the time. I ended up signing up as a member which was reasonably priced. I am so taking advantage of this but I'm already excited to try other vineyards.  Since Kristina was a member the tasting and tour was free which would have cost someone $30 per person. Everyone was very knowledgeable about the wines and I had a great time. A big plus is this place is near me, 'near' as in like 50 miles away. Sterling Vineyards was a nice introduction of what Wine Country has to offer and I'm really excited to try more vineyards in the future. The next part to come in this three part series is Farmstead! Look out for it tomorrow ^^
