Vincent Arroyo

The most expensive wine
Want to know something about me? When I find something I like, I completely obsess over it. Thanks to my first wine tasting experience at Sterling Vineyards, I am obsessed and determined to try as much wine tasting rooms and wineries that I find suited for my wine appetite!! I choose Vincent Arroyo because it was near Sterling Vineyards and who wouldn't want to wine hop?

I was super lucky to Vincent Arroyo this past Saturday because it was their annual barrel tasting event. What I learned about barrel tasting is you drink the wine from the barrels before it is bottled and sold. There was 14 different wines being sampled at this event and a buffet of goodies to sop up the alcohol. The barrels were lined up from light to heavy. There was only one white wine while the others were red. You got a glass as you walked in and boom! Get as much samples as your alcohol tolerance lets you. The staff were super friendly and very knowledgeable about everything. It's a small vineyard and it was really cozy. I was expecting a ton of people but we got there an hour and a half into the event. It was nice to get our fill and relax on their barrel benches. The cheapest wine they were selling was $25 and the most expensive was $65.

I really can't tell you my experience with each wine but I can tell you the ones that stood out the most. The sweetest wine I EVER tasted was the Port. My favorite wine between all of them was "Nameless". A little titbit, they name their wines after pets they have on the winery. Nameless is the name of their cat; I don't like cats but this is an exception. Nameless and the Cabernet Sauvignon Winemaker's Reserve were my favorites. One that completely stood out was the Tempranillo, I could be wrong with the name, but it was a kick to the mouth kind of wine. It was smoky and spicy and it was super flavorful; tried it only once.

There was also food at this event and it was nice to nibble and drink and nibble some more and drink some more. I didn't want to drink too much because we had one more winery to visit but I mean after 20 two ounce samples of wine, yes I went to get a second serving for one or two and a third serving for three, it was about to kick in. It was super fun and even if I went for a tasting it would have been free. I got lucky visiting this place. I know I will be back because Anthony wants to get the port to share with his family.

We also enjoyed the property and we hung out with one of the winery's pets, Bodega. It was super sad to see her on a leash but it was understandable because we all knew she would be munching on those goodies coming from the grill. Would I say this is worth the experience? Hell yeah! I will be visiting soon again. Thank you Vinceny Arroyo Vineyards for my memorable-first-time-barrel-tasting event!! You made this girl love wine tasting more and more! Except me to come and visit once the grapes start coming in! ^___^
