Plentea

This past Saturday Kristina, her friend Alyssa, and I made a spontaneous adventure to San Francisco to eat some ramen in Japan Town and then head over to Chinatown to quench our milk tea thirsts. It was around 10:12pm when we rolled up around the corner from Plentea.

I don't know the back story to Plentea but all I knew was it was a chic place that can be easily missed. There was not a single outside light to illuminate the sign and for a second I though the place was closed. . . it was dimly lite. Looking over the menu I knew I wanted to try their Ice Milk with pudding. It brought memories of what I had with Meow Meow Cafe in West Covina and how it was this chilling sensation of warm and cold with the perfect balance of sweetness. Kristina ordered the same thing but with boba and then on top a Strawberry Belgian Waffle for us to share.

They were really busy so it wasn't too long of a wait. I was too anxious to get my cup of SF boba! It then arrived. . . . ARE YOU EFFING KIDDING ME?!?!?

When they said Ice Milk they were probably listing off the ingredients based on weight like the ingredient label on any processed product. SERIOUSLY!!? It was 60% ice ,15% pudding, 10% sugar, 10% milk, and 5% tea. Come on, at least freeze milk that you can blend up so nothing is lost in flavor and we get to enjoy it a little longer. Agh! It's so frustrating thinking about that experience.

They even had an upstairs part where it was all cozy but it was already crowded and we had to sit at  at able near the back since it was an open "kitchen" since sitting near the door was way too cold; F.Y.I. they left the door open (probably to let people know they were still open).

That was a notch down from the atmosphere and it was a little irritating. Not the people running the place. The people there were kind and the guy who made the waffles, which is older than the rest of the bunch (who you can obviously pick out) was super nice. There was PLENTEA of customer service but there was also. . .

PLENTEA of ice in my drink
PLENTEA of sugar in my drink as well
PLENTEA of money wasted on the drinks ($5 bucks for 12oz!!!,effing 'A'!!)
and overall PLENTEA of DISAPPOINTMENT

There are PLENTEA of other boba places I can get my fix at but I guess if you're even renting out space in SF you're going to have to sell a product of high expense to cover costs. This whole ice thing still is getting to me because I thought it would be cold milk tea, not a splash of milk tea over a glacier in my cup. As for the waffle. . . it is expensive for average tasting. Nothing spectacular other than the presentation. For someone who's on a budget, please do not come here. As for someone who is not on a budget, please do not come here. Plentea maybe chic and convenient but with San Fransisco being a city of wonder and diversity, there are other places. I'm-not-sorry sorry but you do not do milk tea justice.
