V. Sattui

Gamay Rouge, Off-Dry Riesling, and Cabernet Sauvignon

Hello everyone! Hope you had a great weekend. In less than month's time span I have been to four wineries, 6 for those I revisited. All those wines I've been drinking have caught up to me and now I am here sitting at home recovering from a sickness that came out of the blue. I think I was drinking too much wine for my body to handle and it was shocked. It was worth it in the end and because I'm sick doesn't mean it's the end of my adventures to Napa County. And I say it's not the end because of V.Sattui

Ever since the first time I heard of V.Sattui, it was my goal to go wine tasting there. Oh how I looked at its website and all the Yelp photos. My goal was to go visit Sattui in May in celebration of strawberry season. That all changed as me and the girls were driving towards Napa. Kristina suggested we do a quick wine tasting at Sattui before we head to our chocolate-wine pairing. I couldn't say no and off we went to V. Sattui!

It was around 12:30 P.M. when we arrived and it was starting to get packed. There was a lot of people outside! They didn't stay outside for too long because it started to hail! We totally gunned it towards the tasting room and once we were in there I noticed the deli right away. I was floored by how magnificent it looked. A deli made for a picnic. They had everything for a wine picnic: salami, crackers, sandwiches, cheese, and WINE. Oh I was a kid in a candy store and I wanted everything. There was more people in the tasting room taking shelter from the hail. To wait for all the hail to subside we did some wine tasting.

I have to tell you off the bat that our server/sommelier, Gabe, was super awesome! Very charming, very knowledgeable, and really met all of our needs since we all had different tastes. He was juggling a couple next to us but he was checking on us, making suggestions, and really made sure we were all having a good time. Natasha between the the group was very picky about her wine, she was looking for something sweet and not-so-alcohol taste. Kristina was looking for a white wine, something sweet. I was a more red wine and looking for a more full-bodied type of wine, white wine was not doing it for me.

The wines I had were, in semi-order: Off-Dry Riesling, Gamay Rouge, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Angelica, and Madeira. My favorite was the most expensive bottle between all of them, Madeira ($58 per bottle). Smelled like brandy tasted like honey-caramel. I am day-dreaming about that wine. It was the most pleasant surprise this year thus far! I was ready to get hit with alcohol because I tried one of Natasha's wines. . . it was the Angelica. I pictured myself on a porch swing on a summer's night in a floral dress, like a first kiss. Oh I thought my favorite was going to be Gamay Rouge, boy was I wrong! MmmmMMm Madeira! Gonna have to buy my mommy and step-dad a bottle, it's too delicious to keep to myself. Gotta let the whole world know! This tasting is worth it's original price, paid for the Yelp check-in.

Gabe hit it out of the park for every single one of us and it was a great experience. I highly recommend him if you're ever there. I would have a solo picture of him but he invited me behind the bar and I couldn't say no. . . yeah it was the wine talking. I bet if he was wonderful everyone else there was too.

By the time we were done with our tasting the hail was gone, the clouds cleared up, and it was sunny once again. Off we went to picnic outside!! I was ready to devour my sandwich! I got a chicken pesto sandwich and  carmody cheese, $16.75 total. I didn't know if it was worth it since it was a little pricey. I thought it was going to be a Gott's Roadside experience all over again.
First bite it was semi-regret. The next bite was taking back what I was thinking about with my first bite, oh baby! All I was missing was some wine; we were to busy chowing down and getting ready for Rutherford Ranch. The cheese full-filled my cheese-wine craving and went well with the crackers Kristina bought and the artichoke cheese dip she got was BOMB-TASTIC!! It was worth the money but be cautious. Totally worth it if you had just been paid or you have it to afford it and it won't dent your bank account. I know I can't do it all the time, hence I have already planned when I will be going back just around the same time as pay day.

There are hooks underneath
for your purse to hang! ^^

V.Sattui, your 'V' stand for 'Vivify (verb: to make (someone or something) more lively or vivid [from Merriam-dictionary.com]). As each new winery I go to the more I know about wine and about my palette for wine. V.Sattui no wonder you are so popular with everyone. This might be over-your-head description, I'm going to say it anyway. After some time with you, V.Sattui,  and leaving, it left like I was leaving a high-school crush I semi-got over and are friends with; I didn't want to leave you but I know we'll be together soon again.
