Cliff House

Hope everyone had a great weekend! It went by too fast for me, like it has been for the last few weekends. This weekend I checked off my Food-Bucket List by going to the Cliff House. The Cliff House is located on the edge of the other side of San Francisco. It's a place that oversees the Bay and one of the only places which I can find which serves a brunch buffet.

For their brunch buffet you have to make a reservation ahead of time and I found out fast that they hold the reservation up to 20 minutes after the scheduled time (E.G. Ours was at 11:45am and they can hold it till 12:05pm). It was cool! We got there 5 minutes after our reservation BUT it was hella crowded! We had to park down at the beach; we were way too lucky. Everyone in San Fran decided to come out and play today. . . maybe it's because it's everyone's spring break.

We get to Cliff House and was directed to go downstairs. We get downstairs and ask for a window seat and then told it would take an hour. It's cool, we'll get some drinks. I got a rose. . . did not feel it, not as much as the truffle fries. After 50 minutes we were seated by the window. It looked very spacious looking in but where we were seated there was a table right next to us and behind us, I was semi-boxed in.

That was the least of my concerns. Buffet here I come!! There was so much food! There was shrimp, pasta salads, veggies (which I did not even care to touch), the regular breakfast items, etc. . . Look at the pictures in  wonder. It was damn delicious! I was expecting bland food, oh boy was I W-R-O-N-G! The flank steak was a favorite as well as the miso-glazed salmon. The pots de creme was my favorite dessert item. . . I wish I had more dessert but soooo full from so much good food. Included in the buffet was unlimited champagne, coffee, and water! Wish I asked for mimosas! Damn.

Service was awesome until a huge party came in and well we had to call a server a couple of times. I guess a big party will triumph anyone else since gratuity is added automatically. I think the hardest working people were the people in the kitchen constantly replenishing the buffet.

By the end of my meal I was nit-picking the atmosphere. Other than the harp player! OMG!! The harp player played "Can You Feel The Love Tonight'. The harp player was wonderful with such a chill atmosphere but it was a little too crowded, and I felt horrible trying to squeeze between chairs. Then I noticed the chair were outdated, the curtain were outdated, mostly everything. I don't know if they want to create a nostalgic look and feeling; I was sad there was a hole in the chair, boo! Ehh, didn't matter got my money's worth!!

Total for this bourgeois experience for two, $119; excluding tip and the drinks and truffle fries earlier. Hell yeah it was expensive! Now living up here I can say I have experienced one of the few brunch buffets and have pictures to prove! This wouldn't have happened without the help of pay day. Thanks pay day! Have a great week everyone! Until then happy eating. ^^!
