626 Night Market Part 1: The Beginning

Before I start I want to say I REALLY LOVE my friends. They are amazing, wonderful, gregarious, funny, kind-spirited people. I'm not very spiritual/religious compared to other people so when I say this take it lightly; I am blessed to have the friends who are in my life. They have been there for me, know my darkest secrets, and who put up with sh*t. I know I am a difficult person; kudos to my friends who love me no matter what.

With that my best friend from college,Christie, her brother Allan, her cousin Andrew, and their friend Juan brought me to the well-known 626 Night Market. There was a part of me who didn't want to go but with my life in transition and feeling regret of being to too open with people I had to redeem my feelings somehow and what better way than gorge on food.

Driving up towards Santa Anita Racetrack made it feel like I was driving up to Disneyland. My heart was jumping through my chest, I was making high-pitched noises, and this wave of happiness washed over me. 626 Night Market would be my Disneyland for the night.

The first thing I did was buy myself a beer because it's open alcohol on premises!!! The beer was $7.25 which became $5 when it was night and for tomorrow!! Boo!!! That freaking sucked, but it wasn't about getting drunk. It was about feeling good and eating good. The first booth we went to was

SQUID ROE

Squid Roe sells squid balls with  roe filling, the orange topping on sushi or also known as fish eggs, which is then rolled in breading and deep fried. It was $6 a stick with several different flavors. We got spicy curry and cajun. The balls were seasoned lightly and the squid balls didn't have a pronounced taste. When you bit into it the roe oozed out which got on my hand which I happily licked off. At a point it tasted a little more saltier, I would try it again if presented.

Boba Bear
Boba Bear!! Something sweet to wash down something salty. I bought the 808: strawberry, mango, and pineapple. It was $5 for the drink and it came in this cute little mason jar. I say it was worth the money, the wait was a little long and could have been longer if they didn't have a system going in on the back. Plus the people there were super friendly, but of course this was when 626 was only open for a couple of hours. It got a little chaotic later, which will be my next entry.
