626 Night Market Part 4: The Night

Break dancing competition going on

I am falling asleep as I type this and I do not edit my entries until months later when I finally decide to re-read my entry. I loathe those moments where I tell myself I will stay up late, but my body decide to mess with me.

For those who have read since the beginning of my 626 Night Market series, thank you. I know there isn't much written on some of them but it takes a lot of time to recollect memories, especially when you're half asleep. That was not the same case during 626 because I was running on only 5 hours of sleep and the day before I was driving down with my brother. As the night progressed on my feet started to ache from hours of standing on them and my stomach was crawling to a stop. I thought I could persevere and go to a few more stands, the lines were too much to handle. So I decided to take the easy route and pinpoint booths with little lines.
Ramen Burger line!!! Glad I did not partake ^_^

The Seafood Shack
I totally wanted beignets and so Christie and I went for beignets. Prior to walking over to get our beignets on Christie's brother, Allan, was gun-ho in finding lobster fries. We have walked every square feet of the food court looking for lobster fries. Then we started seeing lobster-like fries which we found out later it was crab fries. These lobster fries were only a myth and then as Christie and I were standing in line to order our beignets and there it was . . . a sign showing LOBSTER FRIES!!! We. Had. To. Order. Them!!! The woman taking orders was really friendly; we ordered 3 beignets ($5) and the lobster fries ($12). The wait wasn't too long but I have to say it was a little disappointing to see them put the fries together with already cooked ingredients, none of it was fresh (I.E. piping hot)

The fries were cold, good amount of lobster, the sauce was plentiful (too plentiful if I may add). The beignets were not what I expected. Beignets should be like a fluffy donut, those are my expectations. These beignets were hearty. It was like eating a light dinner roll, one small bite and it was a mouthful. It didn't help when you had 90% bread and 10% powdered sugar. It tasted more like bread instead of what you expect in a beignet unless that's how a typical beignet tastes. For $17 it was a level below meh. The lobster was the best part of the whole thing because it's lobster, pairing it with cold fries was sacrilegious.

Fruitology
Throughout the night I kept seeing too many light-up drinks. As night fell upon Santa Anita park, left and right were these drinks were popping up. It was like a moth to a flame/lightbulb, I wanted one so badly. Eventually I had the courage to ask someone to see where they bought their drink and they pointed down the line where there was Fruitology. For $6 you get to pick a drink and it comes in a glass bottle with a cork and stickered on the bottom was flashing lights; I ordered passion fruit and pineapple (chia seeds optional).

The drink itself was cold, tart, light, and refreshing. The lights of course made the drink more entertaining, it was like Disneyland's light parade without the music in form of a drink. It was magic in a bottle. Fruitology's bottle was a nice souvenir to bring home and to be reminded of my most memorable foodie time's EVER.

Oh boy I wish I had a second. . . or third stomach to take in all this goodness. It was a bittersweet feeling of being full, however I was super glad that the people I was with were on the same page with trying different foods out and sharing. You would think gluttony would win this round but fear now because I have the will of and smarts of an owl. Actually I don't know what animal would be the best animal to represent this achievement. All that matters was I tried so many places out. Next time I know I will have to get there early and divide and conquer with my friends.

So, you think this is the end of this series but there is one final reflection and tons of other non-food pictures I would like to share. Please stayed tune because my next entry will be a little poetic and you know you want to read it till the end. Thanks again guys and happy eating!!! ^____^
