Good Morning Everyone!!!
I wanted to write a little something and take a break from the vegan diaries. You know write something a little sweet? Soooo cheesy and a low blow, I know. Well I have to say L.A. Cookie Con and Sweets Show have been updating me with what's happening to them since the last time I was able to participate as press coverage last year. When they contacted me I was thrilled to see what's been going on.
This convention was like Costco on sugar steroids; there were cookie and sweet samples EVERYWHERE!! There were bakers up and down SoCal and there even some bakers from out of state. Everyone had a little something to add to the mix. I remember Shugah Mama and her amazing gluten-free cookies. There were a lot of gluten free cookies floating around, Shugah Mama was the best in texture and taste. Plus they had awesome music playing and they were super interactive with everyone.
Gluten-free was a good percentage of exhibitors and there were a lot of unique ones as well, like the egg-free-non-guilt cookie dough from Unbaked. There were really good chocolate chunk cookies from Cookie Expert, I could be wrong with the name. Then there was Pop'd Up, not a cookie but a sweet, and they had the most bomb blood orange drink. Because of them I went through a blood orange phase for the rest of the year. They use hi-ball which is a seltzer from overseas and it makes their blood orange concentration come to life. There was a huge line waiting for these amazing drinks and thank goodness too because everyone need to reset their palette after trying a bajillion cookies and sweets. Oh oh, then there was this stand where they had a habanero, peanut butter and jelly cookie and this one cookie. . . . then there was this apple cookie!! OMG I need to go back.
In the back there was a milk station, which was soooo nice because right around the corner was Brookie (bronwie + cookie combo). This was too much to handle and it was only the first day?!? All these sweets were way too much to handle and believe it or not this was only on the main floor. There were also two V.I.P. areas, which I have to say was hella crowded but meh more dessert!!!
My favorite part was when Sprinkles, a cupcake company widely know in SoCal, brought in cookies. OMG!! I took 3 cookies from them when the sample was one per person. It was fucking delicious and it was oatmeal between all the cookies, OATMEAL!! It could have been the old person inside me coming out; I swear oatmeal cookies are taking over my life nowadays. There were a couple of savory treats like empanadas from World Empanadas and there was beef jerky (which was found on the main floor) There were also these Filipino puddings with ube, coconut, and like passion fruit. Ice cream was also served by Quenelle which had this bomb chocolate malt, . . I've said 'bomb' earlier and right now. Hopefully the NSA isn't targeting this blog. Seriously L.A. Cookie Con and Sweets Show would be like a glitter bomb but instead of glitter it would be sugar and that's how I can sum my experience because it was exploding with sugar and treats. Swimming cookies and sweets. . . so decedant and such a rush. Then the next day I felt sick to my stomach because my body did not expect and could not handle that much sugar. Still worth it and I am proud they are growing and growing. Still in it's infant years, probably 4 years if not 3 years running, it has been securing a spot for SoCal residents.

This year L.A. Cookie Con and Sweets Show is going to be two weeks from this weekend, February 18th and 19th , Saturday and Sunday. Since it's a 3-day weekend I really recommend it since it's held at the Los Angeles Convention Center and afterwards you can mosey on over to downtown or stare at the Staples Center. I would love to go if there were two of me. . . actually 3 then I would be able to cover more ground, but sadly I cannot, =(
So if anyone is going please, please, please keep me up to date!! I'm more than happy to share your pics on my Instagram account remember to tag me @thenomnomchronicles so I know what's happening. Being at Cookie Con last year was a blessing because I got to do something I love with something everyone loves, especially Cookie Monster. I get to be a foodie, eat a bunch of cookies, and not be judge with 10,000 people. Check out L.A. Cookie Con if you're interested in more!! Remember C is for Cookie, and a passing grade in Chemistry, which I really need to study for now!! HAPPY SATURDAY CALIFORNIA!!!
