Hi Everyone!! This year I was fortunate enough to be invited back to cover L.A. Cookie Con and Sweets Show. However due to pre-planned travels I was not able to attend but one of my best friends Christie , who also came with me last year, was able to fill in and cover this year. THANK YOU CHRISTIE FOR COVERING!!

The Sweet Dandelion (thesweetdandelion.com) if I weren’t ambitious
in trying to make cake pops on my own, I would most definitely run to the Sweet
Dandelion; specializing in gourmet cake pops, their items are not only
delicious, but very well decorated. As a Pokémon fan, you can bet the first
thing that caught my eye was their poke ball cake pop (red velvet) and then of
course green matcha. Purely bought these on aesthetics, and was pleasantly
surprised by their flavors! I can’t remember if I sampled before or if there
weren’t any available, but man oh man they were delicious! Best matcha cake pop
I’ve ever had!
And for something that
makes me feel a little less guilty indulging in some sweets, I present Cake Bams (cakebams.com) Delicious
artisanal rice cakes by Jenn. How can I describe these… like crunchy cupcakes?
No, that sounds wrong. A healthy cookie? It’s something you’ll just have to
try! But it brought my love of sweet
things and rice cakes together, and I am forever changed by this low calorie,
gluten-free treat! Wish I had taken a better photo though, mine simply does not
do it justice.

LA Cookie Con 2017, a highlight for me and my sweet tooth
during the first quarter of the year. What to expect…cookies? treats? And
pickles? Yes, yes, and yes, I’m talking about you Proper’s Pickles! Welcome
past vendors and new! Welcome to my belly!
This year’s Los Angeles Cookie Con took place once again at
the Los Angeles Convention Center filling is halls with delicious sweets and
some savory items (Hello, Food trucks). As soon as you walk in your greeted
with a sweet aroma and hundreds of people there for the same reason you are.
Now one of the best things I can say about Cookie Con in general are the
samples. Samples on samples on samples. I chance to try something new, a real
treat for the eyes and taste buds.
A few of my favorites have returned this year Broadway
Bakers, Papillon, Drunken Cake Pops, and for a non-sweets favorite Mad Cap Balloons
has also returned with their cutest balloon creations! But let me share with
you a few of my stand out choices.
Caked
(getcakedinla.com) made in a home kitchen. Caked is run by two sisters, Lianna
and Janay, out of a Los Angeles apartment. Growing up, they experimented with
different flavors – and I’ll have to say they’re flavor profiles are on point.
This year they displayed an assortment of cake in a jar and cookies. These
cakes in a jar were the first of my samplings, and the last thing I ate that
evening (I bought 3 of them, devoured 2 that days and gave the last to my
brother.) Mexican Hot Chocolate, in my opinion, was so spot on! Their cakes in
general, not too sweet, but man are they flavorful. Their cookies too!

There were so many other great vendors as well, these were
just a few of my favorites. And I can’t wait to discover more next year! I’d
like to make a special shout-out to The Nom Nom Chronicles – Jazzmin Baruela
for allowing me the opportunity to take her place this year. I had an Amazing
time and a delicious experience. Also, just another shout out I want to make as
I’m feeling a new sense of hometown pride check out this cake from Torrance
Bakery by Gaspar Rodriguez. So much detail! And so much action!
