Throwback Thursday!!! There's nothing much to say other than "I love Boston!!" There is not enough time, especially over the span of 3 days, to cover all the food places I wanted to try. I guess that means I have to go visit again soon!! If there is a place I have not covered on these last two posts that you recommend I should visit feel free to comment or e-mail me at NomNomChron@gmail.com
We have made it to the end of the week everybody!! ^O^
1. Toscanini's
★★★★★
Toscanini's have quite a history and since it's also one of the oldest creameries I had to see what they have to offer in this city filled with comfort food.
Went here on a Sunday night and boy was this place packed!! There were such a variety of treats: ice cream sandwiches, cakes, and they even had coffee. Affogato anyone? I was recommended Burnt Carmel ice cream. There were a TON of other flavors, some which caught my attention more than Burnt Caramel. There was an Early Gray which was bold in flavor yet lighter than others. It was like a stroll in the park on a spring afternoon, even though it was freezing cold that night.
Burnt Caramel could be everyone's favorite, which was as it tasted straight up burnt caramel, but Earl Gray won my heart. For $5 of a combo of two flavors, it was well worth the quality and taste.
P.S. Their soft serve is pretty bomb ;)

2. Kelley's Roast Beef

A local staple for Bostonians, came here to get my lobster roll fix.
I didn't have much expectations other than hoping the flavor of this Northeast favorite was incredible. Came here on an overcast day. You order at the windows and all the seating is outside or under a gazebo-esk place across the street. I ordered the lobster roll ($21 + tax) and cheese fries with bacon bits ($6).
The lobster roll came with a bag of chips an a pickle. I was glad it did because for $21 I then was hoping to get sort of a meal out of it. The lobster roll itself was a piece of grilled bread and lobster put in. The lobster was cold, salty, and wet; which then made the bread soggy. I did like the contrast of the warm bread, when I was able to get a bite of that, and the lobster. The lobster was fresh, I understand the steep price in this crustacean.
The fries was well worth the price. All smothered in cheese and bacon goodness. Overall, the meal balanced out and I checked off eating a lobster roll from the East Coast off my list. Weather does influence in my meal experience, when I was about to chow down on my roll it started to rain a bit. Cold on cold? No thank you, I will definitely be back for the summer to enjoy Kelley's in it's prime. ^___^ Happy eating!!
3. Zumie's

Ordered a mint matcha tea latte for $4 + tax. It only comes in one size, a medium which is the standard 16 ounce. I was really excited to try this drink because it's mint and matcha. It's a combo that cannot go wrong. . . but it can go wrong and it did go wrong. Nothing on the actual flavors going wrong, it was more for this particular instance.
It was basically a watered-down-hint-of-matcha-and-mint milk. I paid $4 for milk?! I could have went across the street and bought a gallon and been more satisfied. With that said their matcha game is not strong. Their coffee game was a-okay.
I've been too spoiled with the coffee from my area and I know this place is one of few around the Charlestown area. However, they will have competition popping up very soon so I hope they are able to hone in on being well rounded with all their products. Until then I would pass up on their matcha and go for more coffee.
4. Pinocchio
★★★★★ a week ago
After going around Harvard Square looking for a college-budget worthy place and showing up with nada my friend mentioned Pinocchio's.
We ended up going on the weekend after lunch, so there wasn't a long line at the time. There was a deal where you can get 2 slices of pizza for I think around $6. . . anyone can completely comment and correct me if I'm wrong.
While taking in this small cozy place I noticed their pizza slices where Sicilian!! ^O^ That means a nice thick rectangular crust. I decided to try their sausage and chicken pesto. Since this place is known more for a place that's open 24/7 and draws in the late-night crowd my expectations of the pizza was pretty moderate. I thought greasy-eek pizza to absorb a night's worth of drinking.
Well when I took the first bite of the chicken pesto I was convinced it's more than a pizza for those late nights. The crust was the right amount of dense where it wasn't too much crust, like a lighter dense crust. . . doesn't make sense maybe but read that a few times and you'll start connecting dots or what not. The sauce was amazing and the toppings were pretty good.
I seriously could have ate half a sheet by myself. The sauce on the sausage reminded me of the time I made marinara sauce from scratch. It was a great taste of tang with the mellow flavor of the cheese. Overall, whatever the cost was, it was well worth the price.
NOTE: Street metered parking around the area. It sometimes can be difficult to find parking.
